Trapp siblings win state cross country meet, girls team places second

The brother-sister duo of Hayes and Aine Trapp continued their dominance in the GIAA Class AA cross country championship this past Saturday in Macon, Ga.
Hayes Trapp, despite running with a fever, bested the competition with a course record time of 16:36, 15 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. The senior runner finished off his Prep career with three consecutive cross country state championships.

Aine, a junior, also set a course record with a time 20:22, finishing 46 seconds ahead of teammate Ruby Dozier, who placed second. Aine won her third consecutive state title. Masa Iwanski (24:19) finished in 15th place, while Ashley Loo placed 16th at 24:30. Yahan Su checked in at 29th place.

The Augusta Prep girls tied for first place with Trinity Dublin at 46 points, but Prep lost the tiebreaker due to Trinity Dublin's sixth runner posting a faster non-counting time than the Cavaliers' sixth runner.

In the boys competition, Augusta Prep finished third behind Heritage Prep and Westminster Christian. Roy Gamble finished 24th overall at 19:44, while Seth Crowson placed 25th (19:51). Jack Butler finished 30th, while Aaron Wang placed 37th.
