Academics
Lower School

Welcome

In the Lower School at Augusta Prep, we build a strong foundation for our students.

We recognize the importance of these formative years when students master essential academic skills. In keeping with Augusta Prep’s tradition of academic excellence, our Lower School program emphasizes the acquisition of tools necessary for scholastic success. Our preschoolers arrive learning the alphabet - and by the time they graduate fourth grade, they are ready for our challenging Middle School program and beyond.
Great schools begin with great teachers, and as an independent school, we have some of the best. Passionate about their subject matter and well versed in child development, our teachers create a learning environment that balances structure and high expectations with love and support.

Our teachers find the best in each child – and they are the reason we feel we’re a top private elementary school in Augusta, Ga., Evans, Ga., and throughout the CSRA.
The Lower School years are also a time of great emotional and social development. Children come to Augusta Prep with a curious spirit; they’re excited to learn and ready to make new friends! Each student participates in a morning assembly where they support one another, and our curriculum fosters intellectual curiosity, promotes creativity, and builds independence. Throughout the journey, our dedicated and caring faculty encourages students to understand their place in the larger world and know the importance of kindness and service to others. The Augusta Prep Lower School is characterized by:
  • Small class sizes and individualized instruction
  • Spanish, physical education, art, music, library, and computer classes taught in all grade levels
  • A diverse student body
  • Two learning specialists dedicated to working with individual students to improve academic performance
  • An atmosphere in which exploration, creativity, and experimentation are valued and encouraged
  • An appreciation of the talents, strengths, and contributions of each student
  • A commitment to community service at all grade levels
  • A warm and welcoming community
We are a school that promotes excitement in learning, deep understanding, and emotional - as well as intellectual - growth. We’re a place children come to see learning as a lifelong, joyous pursuit.
