Global Education

The Augusta Prep Global Education Program enriches the lives of students through experiential education by immersing them in a world that is increasingly interconnected. Global travel promotes deeper learning, greater empathy, and sharper cross-cultural communication skills. Through travel, we will better live the school’s mission to educate well-rounded, engaged students who embrace personal responsibility, global perspective, and service to others. At Augusta Prep, we have always embraced the value of the world as a classroom. We learn from other cultures by traveling around the globe and bringing international students to our campus.

Global Connections Program offerings have been designed to meet one or more of the following criteria:
  • Experiential Learning & Focused Goals Within a Discipline
  • Language Immersion & Cultural Exploration
  • Service to Others, The Environment, Our World

  • Where We've Been

In recent years, Augusta Prep faculty and students have traveled to:

    • Italy, June 2024: In the summer of 2024, a number of our Upper school students and three of our faculty travelled to Italy to experience la dolce vita in the cities of Rome, Naples, and Florence. During this journey, the kids were immersed in the classical, Renaissance, and Baroque histories, architecture and art of these stunning cities. We also took a couple of days to explore Sorrento, Capri and Siena. From bustling city centers to tranquil Tuscan countrysides, and even swimming in the turquoise Tyrhennian Sea, we took in all that Italian culture has to offer and deepened our knowledge and appreciation for Classical History.
    • Camp Taveuni, Taveuni Island Fiji, April 2025: This past spring break, Prep students from grades 8-12, two faculty members, and a former Prep parent headed on a long journey to the South Pacific. CampTaveuni is a unique place, built with sustainability and the environment in mind as one can see from the unique eco domes and outdoor living spaces. We took part in an effort to remove debris and invasive starfish and replant baby corals on the Rainbow Reef. We visited a pearl farm and got to snorkel the area around the farm, even seeing massive clams in their natural habitat. We had a blast spending time with local craftswomen who fashioned beautiful jewelry out of oyster shells and with local kids at their school, church, and even on the volleyball court. We hiked high mountain trails, swam in the clear blue Pacific waters, all the while learning about the Pacific Island culture and how climate change is impacting this part of the world.
    • London, Normandy, and Paris, June 2025: A small group of Upper Schoolers and one of our faculty headed to learn the history and legacy of WWII  in the early weeks of this past summer.  They had a whirlwind tour of major sites in London (such as The British Museum, Tower Bridge and the London Tower, and even saw a production of Phantom of the Opera).  On to Normandy where they visited the D-Day Museum learning all about the Allied Forces and the invasion of Nazi occupied Europe. Of course, in Paris -- o-lala -- the Eiffel Tower and the magical island of Mont-Sainte-Michel with its beautiful cathedral. So much to see, so much to learn, and so much to think about in regards to our own time and applying the lessons of the past.
    • Hurricane Island Center for Science and Research, Rockland, Maine, July 2025: A group of Middle School students and two faculty leaders headed to the remote and rugged Maine coast where they immersed themselves in marine science and ecology for a week on Hurricane Island.  This is a very special place, built with a focus on research and education. The kids took part in marine science projects, exploring and logging data, lobster farming, seaweed cultivation, and even rock climbing!  This is a truly unique location that tests the kids' endurance and curiosity, and returns them home with loads of new knowledge and ideas on sustainability.
  • Exchange Opportunities

    Augusta Prep
Augusta Prep is fortunate to have several wonderful global exchange partner schools. Currently we are in partnership with St. Margaret's Anglican School in Brisbane Australia, and  The Tietgenskolen in Odense, Denmark. We are actively seeking exchange programs for Language Immersion, so stay tuned!  These partner exchanges can last anywhere from two or three weeks up to ten weeks. Additionally, we assist in helping to set up longer-term study abroad, generally encompassing most or all of a school semester.

Our partnership with St. Margaret's in Brisbane Australia is a very special one for the Upper School and in particular six sophomore girls. Three of our Prep girls- Carys, Soheila, and Lily- started off the exchange in July, travelling to Brisbane and joining the St. Margaret’s Anglican School for Girls student body for six weeks. There they met an even wider global community as the St. Marg’s exchange program also welcomes girls from all over the world.  In early October, we welcomed their counterparts- Chloe, Cheeky, and Talia- to Augusta Prep where they fit in right away!  Their stay will last through the Thanksgiving break, and we are just thrilled to have these three lovely Aussies with us for two months!

Our partnership with the Tietgenskolen on Odense has become something that many of our community members look forward to every fall!  This exchange is shorter, but we welcome a larger group to campus.  This year we had the absolute pleasure of hosting fourteen Danish students and two Danish faculty during early October.  We made the most of our week with them.  Some host families took their Dane to regional sites, such as Savannah and Asheville, while others opted to attend football games and local attractions, such as hiking and biking local trails. In February 2026, our students will head TO Denmark!
  • Current Opportunities

Augusta Prep offers a variety of experiences for student travelers each year. For the 25-26 school year we are offering:
    • “Aegean Odyssey”, June 2026: Take a journey to Greece to learn about ancient art and literature.  This trip, which includes mulri-day travel by ship, will take us in the footsteps of Homer’s Odyssey and to sites such as the Acropolis in Athens and across the Aegean Sea to the Minoan Palace at Crete. Open to 8th-12th grade. See Dr. Bill White for more info.

Middle School program in the works. Details to come later.
  • Network of Complementary Schools

The Augusta Prep Global Connections Program has partnered with a very unique organization, the Network of Complementary Schools. The Network is a group of schools who share a common goal, which is to offer unique, eye-opening domestic exchanges with other NCS member schools.  These exchanges are shorter term (generally 10-14 days), reciprocal, and can serve students and faculty alike.
