Harris

Dr. Dennis Harris, Jr. currently serves as a Hospitalist and Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at Wellstar-MCG Health and Augusta University. Deeply committed to professional leadership and community service, he is actively involved with several national organizations, including the National Medical Association and the American Public Health Associations. He serves as an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Dr. Harris also dedicates his time to Project BBuild, a local non-profit providing weekly mentoring and tutoring for at-risk youth in Richmond County public middle schools. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Vanderbilt University, a Master of Science from Hampton University, and his M.D. from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, before completing a dual Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Though originally a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Dr. Harris has proudly called Augusta home since 2013. He is married to Dr. LaToya Harris, a fellow Vanderbilt alumna, owner of Eat The Crumbs, LLC and a certified project manager with over twenty years of federal service. Together, they are the proud parents of three children, including a current 7th grader. Having seen firsthand how all three of his children have benefited from the strong educational foundation of Augusta Prep, Dr. Harris is deeply inspired by the school's unwavering commitment to academic excellence, whole-child development, and strong community values that prepare students to lead and serve with integrity.
