Augusta Prep Middle School team finishes runner-up in cyber competition

The Augusta Prep Middle School Cyber Cavs Blue Pumpkin team placed second overall among all public and private school teams competing Wednesday in the AFCEA TechNet Capture the Flag event at the Georgia Cyber Center. More than 40 teams from the Augusta area competed in the event.
The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) TechNet Capture the Flag competition is an annual event supported by the Parsons Corporation. Teams are limited to no more then four members, and topics for the event include: Binary Exploitation, Reverse Engineering, Web Exploitation, Cryptography, Forensics, and Security.

Augusta Prep is home to the area's premier school STEM facility, the 20,000-square-foot W. Rodger Giles Institute for Inquiry. Inside the Giles Institute, students learn more about cyber, robotics, motorsports engineering, design thinking, prototyping, digital fabrication (3D printing), and augmented/virtual reality.
