Class of 2021 gift adds Porkchop artwork to Augusta Prep campus

If you’ve driven onto campus and turned your head to the left, you’ve likely seen a colorful display just outside the Lower School. The added pop to the Augusta Prep campus comes as a gift from the Class of 2021.
Two years ago, the senior class decided to gift Prep with artwork, but not just any art. Class President Noah Nussbaum chatted with Upper School Art Teacher Tara Chokshi about painting the electrical boxes just outside the Lower School. Mrs. Chokshi then called up her good friend and renowned local artist Leonard “Porkchop” Zimmerman, who is famous for his “Happy” artwork campaign.

Soon after, Augusta Prep commissioned Porkchop. A very busy artist, he worked on the project during his down time, finishing the project recently.

“I love it,” Mrs. Chokshi said. “I look at it every day - that smiling face. If you walk around it - not a lot of people see the sides and the back - but there is a lot of cool imagery that has meaning to the Class of 2021.”

Porkchop added: “I was happy to work on this gift from the Class of 2021 and I tried to tuck in as many Easter eggs as I could from their final year. Duck, duck, goose…it’s a good day to run.”

Thanks to the Class of 2021, Augusta Prep now has Porckhop artwork on campus. If you’d like to learn more about his artwork, you can visit Porkchop’s website online.
