Augusta Prep senior named Columbia County co-STAR Student of the Year

Augusta Prep senior Priya Sharma was named the Columbia County co-STAR student for the 2022-2023 school year on Thursday, Feb. 9 at the countywide banquet presented by the Harlem Woman’s Club at the Harlem Baptist Church. Priya becomes the first Augusta Prep student in seven years to earn this distinction.
The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) Program, presented by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, recognizes students who have the highest SAT score in their class and are also in the top 10 percent of their class based on grade point average.

Priya selected Eric Miller, who teaches Ceramics, AP Studio Art, Motorsports Engineering and Technical Theater as her STAR teacher. They both spoke at the STAR Student and Teacher reception.

Priya and Mr. Miller will represent Augusta Prep at the region competition in the near future.
