Class of '71 dedicates plaque to former Prep English teacher

A few members of the Augusta Prep Class of 1971 recently donated money for a plaque to be put in the library in honor of former Augusta Prep teacher Emily Sheftall Cleckley. The Class of '71 in the picture are: Margaret (Brown) Swift, Ann (Williams) Ewell, Zetta Garrett, Anne (Merry) Bell, Cara Bliven, Lynn (Moss) Norvell, and Vicki Raymond.
Emily was an original faculty member at Augusta Prep's Hill Baptist site, and was part of our school from 1961-1977. She was responsible for the creation of the Augusta Prep library, which she constantly expanded to the joy of our community. Emily also created the English Department Handbook, which detailed expectations and requirements for assignments.

Each one of the women in the picture have many of their own memories of Emily, and share sentiments of lifelong gratitude. Next time you are on campus, make sure to go take a look at the new plaque lovingly dedicated in the honor of Emily Sheftall Cleckley.
