The Augusta Prep football team plays 11-man football in the Georgia Independent Schools Association (GISA) league. The Cavaliers won a state championship in 2013.

The program is led by coach Harry Bacheller.

Augusta Prep posted a combined 15-5 record in the 2016 and 2017 seasons, and the Cavaliers have made the GISA state playoffs five of the past six years.

On Sept. 7, 2018, quarterback Justin Meddings connected with wide receiver Bailey Adams, who made a juggling catch. The highlight play was named one of the top five plays for the week in America, according to Hudl. Click here to see the play (at the 25-second mark). Meddings was named The Augusta Chronicle's All-Area Independent Player of the Year on Dec. 24, 2018.

The Middle School and Upper School teams play home games at Cavalier Stadium on the school campus, and Prep games often receive area media attention. Augusta Prep, with our character education, smaller class sizes and outstanding academics, prepares our football players for life on and off the gridiron after graduation. Because of that, college recruiters take notice of our players.

After the 2016 season, lineman Hamp Gibbs signed to play with Georgia Tech. He is No. 68 for the Yellow Jackets. In the spring of 2018, four football players signed college offers, three of them with NCAA DIvision I colleges. Palmer Bachelder signed with Central Florida, Hinson Fowler signed with Georgia Tech and James Garnett signed to play with Wofford. Also, Brian Stone signed to play football with Methodist University, an NCAA Division III school.
