A student’s educational experience significantly shapes his or her level of future success and sense of self. We greatly appreciate that families entrust Augusta Prep to provide the optimal educational experience for their children, to have their “story” become part of Prep’s. We are confident the return on their educational investment is profound. The myriad ways in which Augusta Prep challenges, supports, and cares for its students enables them to flourish academically and personally. We, however, appreciate that families have educational choices and want to highlight some of the reasons why many families have chosen Prep for their student.

We would first note that the NAIS offers a useful overview of the independent school advantages students and families enjoy at Prep:

  • High academic standards. Independent schools foster intellectual curiosity, stimulate personal growth, and encourage critical thinking.
  • Small classes and individual attention. Independent schools have low student-teacher ratios that encourage close connections with students.
  • Greater likelihood of a student completing a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree.
  • Education for the whole child. Independent schools nurture not just students’ intellectual ability and curiosity but also their personal and social growth and civic conscience.
  • Inclusiveness. Schools maintain diverse and vibrant student communities and welcome and respect each family.
  • A community of parents who actively participate in their children’s education. Independent schools promote regular communication and have greater engagement among students, parents, and teachers to ensure everyone is working toward the same goals for the student.
  • The opportunity to choose a school with a mission. You can select a school whose philosophy, values, and teaching approach is right for your child.

Additionally, here are some of the specific advantages and opportunities that an Augusta Prep education offers our students and families:

  • Niche independent rankings feature Prep as the best K-12 school in the Augusta area, ranked No. 17 in Georgia for the 2018-19 school year. Prep has been ranked among the state's top 20 private/independent schools in each of the past four years.
    • The average tuition for those ranked ahead of Prep is approximately 27% higher than Prep’s cost.
  • Prep is one of just 11 Cum Laude Society schools and the only Malone Family Foundation school in Georgia.
  • Our student-teacher ratio of 7:1 in our community of 511 students means Prep is large enough to offer endless opportunities and activities but small enough to cater to the needs of the individual student.
  • Prep’s student body consists of families living in 26 different zip codes, and 28% represent traditionally-defined domestic minority groups.
  • There is little turnover in Prep’s impressive, innovative faculty. Our teachers find it extraordinarily rewarding to teach Prep’s talented and motivated students.
  • Faculty and staff receive meaningful support for professional development, toward ever increasing our ability to serve our students well.
  • An Honor System contributes to a culture of integrity, openness and care.
  • Prep features a 55-acre park-like campus.
  • Prep will perform five full theatrical productions each school year in the beautiful Hull Fine Arts Center.
  • Prep offers appealing after school programming and private instruction with musical instruments and dance.
  • Prep offers more GISA-sanctioned varsity sports (19) than any other school in the CSRA, plus it supports JV and Middle School teams in many sports.
  • A well-funded scholarship and financial aid program helps to create financial access for qualified students and families.
