Augusta Prep senior Brooke Arnold is organizing a senior project that is near and dear to her heart in more ways than one.
Arnold, who plays on Augusta Prep’s tennis team and has been involved with the sport for many years, is organizing a tennis tournament that will occur at Augusta Prep on May 17 and will benefit a cause that has a special connection to her.  Arnold’s tournament is being called “Serves for SIDS” – the acronym that represents the condition known as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.  It was 16 years ago this spring that Brooke’s brother passed away due to SIDS.
Brooke says that this time of year is always difficult due to her family’s loss, but this year she had decided to use her senior project to not only bring about awareness about the condition but also to raise funds for a national SIDS organization.
To do so, Brooke is asking anyone in the community who enjoys tennis to sign up for her May 17 “Serves for SIDS” tournament at a cost of $12 per person, which will come with a lunch and T-shirt.  The tournament will be doubles only and will start at 9 a.m. on May 17, taking place on Augusta Prep’s tennis courts.
Those on the campus of Augusta Prep are asked to fill out a sign-up sheet either in the Upper School office, Middle School lobby, or Lower School office to pay and get registered for the tournament.  Those outside of the Prep community can go online to the following web address to print out a registration form:
You’ll then need to mail in the registration form and check made to Brooke to Augusta Preparatory Day School, 285 Flowing Wells Road, Martinez, GA 30907, Attention: Brooke Arnold.  Brooke says she would appreciated anyone interested in participating to RSVP by May 3 to
