Meet, Heart Hero, Sean Levy - Marisa, a 30 year old mother of one had an exciting expectation...She was pregnant with twins. She was the typical expectant mom. She watched her diet, followed her doctor’s orders and waited with her husband Joseph for their miracles to arrive.
Six months into her pregnancy Marisa and Joseph heard something no expectant parent wants to hear. One of their twins was in congestive heart failure and his chance of survival was only 2%. Marisa spent many nights in the medical library researching and hoping that the doctors were wrong. Three months later her twins were born. Three days later Sean had open heart surgery.
Today, Sean is 17 years old. He doesn’t feel, or look, like a heart survivor, but he is. He has no pulmonary valve, but he does have a patch that allows the blood to flow freely. And, he should be able to live the rest of his life with no further complications. Medical advances happen every day because of people like you!
