Augusta Mayor Deke
Copenhaver graciously fielded these and a variety of questions posed by Prep's
second grade class during a field trip to downtown Augusta. Learning about how government works
is the focus of their social studies classes these days, so meeting the mayor
in person and in his workplace provided the perfect hands-on experience for our
students.
Mayor Copenhaver spent a generous amount of time with our
eager and excited students, talking about his duties and what he values most
about his job. He expressed gratitude in having the opportunity to meet
"tomorrow's leaders." We are grateful to him for sharing his time with our
second grade.
